Free Download Martin Mulsow, "The Hidden Origins of the German Enlightenment "
English | ISBN: 100924115X | 2023 | 413 pages | PDF | 5 MB
The early German Enlightenment is seen as a reform movement that broke free from traditional ties without falling into anti-Christian and extremist positions, on the basis of secular natural law, an anti-metaphysical epistemology, and new social ethics. But how did the works which were radical and critical of religion during this period come about? And how do they relate to the dominant 'moderate' Enlightenment? Martin Mulsow offers fresh and surprising answers to these questions by reconstructing the emergence and dissemination of some of the radical writings created between 1680 and 1720. The Hidden Origins of the German Enlightenment explores the little-known freethinkers, persecuted authors, and secretly circulating manuscripts of the era, applying an interdisciplinary perspective to the German Enlightenment. By engaging with these cross-regional, clandestine texts, a dense and highly original picture emerges of the German early Enlightenment, with its strong links with the experience of the rest of Europe.

Free Download William T. Larkins - The Ford Tri-Motor 1926-1992
Schiffer Publishing | 1992 | ISBN: 0887404162 | English | 320 pages | PDF | 136.98 MB
A large number of people in the United States had their first airplane ride in a Ford Tri-Motor during the 1920s and 1930s, a plane that remains to this day a fine example of engineering, planning and production. It was the application of a modified assembly line production by the world's largest automobile manufacturer to a continuously refined design, backed by extensive advertising and publicity concerned with safety, at a time when such dependability and safety was crucial, that put Ford ahead of all of its competitors. The all-metal construction, stressed so much by the Ford advertising campaign of the late 1920s, proved its worth in later years. The life span of the average airplane in the 1920s was relatively short and so it is not surprising to find the Ford Company timidly stating in their 1929 advertising that "no Ford plane has yet worn out in service." This new book by aviation historian William T. Larkins is the most complete information available on the Ford Tri-Motro, and includes information on design, contruciton, model designations, a cross-indexing of U.S. and foreign registrations, a cross-index to military Ford Tri-Motors, accident summaries, Ford factory employees and Ford Tri-Motor pilot listing.

Free Download Evgeny Dobrenko, "State Laughter: Stalinism, Populism, and Origins of Soviet Culture"
English | ISBN: 0198840411 | 2022 | 448 pages | PDF | 3 MB
Stalin's reign of terror was not all doom and gloom, much of it was (meant to be) funny! From comedy films to satirical theatre, from caricature to court speeches, and from Stalin's own writings to bawdy folk songs, humour pervaded the popular culture of the USSR. Until now, conventional wisdom has held that humour was a hallmark of the subversive, but in State Laughter Dobrenko and Jonsson-Skradol do away with that notion. Instead, tracing the development of official humour, satire, and comedy from the revolution through to the 1950s, they explore how and why laughter was a core component of the survival of the Soviet regime. Grounded in Soviet intellectual and cultural history,

Free Download Smart Nanomaterials Targeting Pathological Hypoxia
English | 2023 | ISBN: 9819917174 | 707 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 68 MB
The book showcases the newest research on smart nanoplatforms responding to "hypoxia"; an omnipresent pathological feature of many modern-day diseases and its potential applications. The book demonstrates the versatility of hypoxia targeted smart nanoplatforms in disease management in diverse pathological settings presented in chapters contributed by various experts in the field. The themes in the book touch upon critical facets to address pathological hypoxia such as nanomaterials enhancing oxygenation, hypoxia responsive nanoformulations which deliver the drug directly to the hypoxic site, limited toxicity and enhanced efficacy of smart nanoformulations to counter molecular consequences of hypoxia, and theranostics combining hypoxia detection systems with drug delivery systems. This book disseminates the current implications of smart nanomaterials in disease management that can be exploited by scholars, researchers, and pharma industries to develop, manufacture, and commercialize hypoxia targeted diagnostics and therapeutics.

Free Download Arshin Adib-Moghaddam, "Psycho-nationalism: Global Thought, Iranian Imaginations "
English | ISBN: 1108423078 | 2017 | 176 pages | PDF | 491 KB
States routinely and readily exploit the grey area between sentiments of national affinity and hegemonic emotions geared to nationalist aggression. In this book, Arshin Adib-Moghaddam focuses on the use of Iranian identity to offer a timely exploration into the psychological and political roots of national identity and how these are often utilised by governments from East to West. Examining this trend, both under the Shah as well as by the governments since the 1979 Iranian revolution, Adib-Moghaddam's analysis is driven by what he terms 'psycho-nationalism', a new concept derived from psychological dynamics in the making of nations. Through this, he demonstrates how nationalist ideas evolved in global history and their impact on questions of identity, statecraft and culture. Psycho-nationalism describes how a nation is made, sustained and 'sold' to its citizenry and will interest students and scholars of Iranian culture and politics, world political history, nationalism studies and political philosophy.
