Description:
In this course you will learn 32 commonly used English similes. You will learn the meaning, form, use and pronunciation of these similes and how to write them. We use visuals throughout the course to maximise your ability to remember the similes. So why do we use similes in the English language? And what do similes do? Put simply, similes add 'very' to the adjective. For example, we can say, 'The wall was yellow'. We can also say, 'The wall was very yellow'. But if we add a simile, we make our writing more interesting and creative. Let's look at this example: "The wall was as yellow as the sun'.Let's look at another example. We can say, 'The man was tall'. Or, if we want to emphasise, we can say, 'The man was very tall.' But if we add a smile, look at how much more colourful and interesting our language is: 'The man was as tall as a giraffe.' Can we change that and say, 'The man was as tall as an elephant? ' Yes we can. We can have a lot of fun being creative. We could also say, 'The man was as tall as a skyscraper'. But in this course we are going to learn the similes that native speakers commonly use. For example, native speakers typically say, '...as tall as a giraffe'. And '...as yellow as the sun'. Join us on our learning journey.
Who this course is for:
This course is for non-native speakers and for native speakers (young and old) looking to improve their creative writing.
